For years we took care of Dad through apartment, independent living, assisted living facilities, hospital visits and rehabs. At age 90 after a severe femur break that wasn’t healing, I knew he was at end of life and would need special care. Brittney and her team came to our rescue by providing a room for dad in a normal home environment which I could come and go as needed. They were always accessible and helped me tremendously over the last few months of Dad’s life. I highly recommend!

Brythaven Allen was where my stepmother received care for more than two years. This residential group home provided for a small-census, caring environment. The staff was very caring and compassionate and offered consistent availability to my stepmother. They were also very good about communicating changes and updates on my stepmother’s health. The owner is also a very caring individual who is readily available and is hands-on when she is present in the home. Nutritious meals are served and the facility arranges occasional enjoyable offsite outings as well as fun in-house activities for the residents. The small-census model here was so much better than would have been the case in a more institutionalized assisted living or nursing facility. I believe Brythaven is a perfect alternative to any kind of institutional care that one might be considering for their loved one.
I cannot tell you how pleased we were with everything about Bryhaven in Allen. My mom started off in a large independent living community in Dallas and later moved to a midsized assisted living community closer to our house in Allen. Mom had dementia and had several falls in her last community. When she was discovered during her last fall, the community wasn’t sure how long she had been laying on the ground since during the night they will only check the rooms every 2-3 hours. It became apparent to us that she needed much closer supervision and more personalized care. We moved her to Bryhaven in Allen and it was the best decision we made during the 6 years of caregiving for her. It’s a small community where the caregivers are much more consistent, they know the individual needs of the residents and they genuinely give personalized care. The house isn’t institutional (it always smelled great!!!) and feels much more like “home” to the residents. All of the caregivers were loving and kind to my mom and they all seemed to enjoy their work which is unusual for Senior Housing communities. Mom eventually passed while in their care and I was touched at the love and sensitivity she received in her final days. My only regret was that we didn’t discover Bryhaven sooner but I am eternally gratefully for the time she was in their care!!!!!
