  1. I don’t know about any other Sodalis community other than Sodalis of Largo in Florida. I’m unable to comment on their assisted living program. I can, however, say that in the last 2 years, there have been four Executive Directors, a new one just moved from sales to ED. He has been unavailable since his very recent appointment as he is on holiday. The Memory Care Floor at Sodalis of Largo is frighteningly neglected. The Manager of Memory Care was moved from an Aide position to management with no training or experience. We have watched aides sit, glued to their phones while the residents struggle to eat, many trying to eat rice, spaghetti, even a bowl of ice cream with their fingers. The food provided for the poor souls whose families have entrusted Sodalis with their care is deplorable. It is not designed for everyone to eat as many cannot manipulate utensils and rely on their fingers. One dinner I witnessed was two slices of dry white bread with a slice and a half of cold cut style chicken or turkey. It had no condiments and the side was a handful of potato chips. We asked the aide if he could go to the kitchen and get a decent meal (some had the white bread dinner while some had chicken legs). He came back telling us there was no more food and the kitchen wasn’t happy with our request. I’d like to say that this was an isolated incident. It wasn’t, it was just one of the worst of many meals. Many times we’ve found our person with full or wet pull-ups and had to do the change ourselves. When we selected this Sodalis we were told that each person’s laundry was done separately and rooms would be locked when not in use. If this was true, we would not continually find many of the clothes and linen we bought missing and clothing and linen we never saw before in our person’s room. It appears Management has no real power as nothing seems to change to spite their efforts. Getting an email address for the CEO has been impossible to this point. We can’t totally blame all of the aides as there are too few to do the job. When a compassionate aide hits the mix, they are usually moved downstairs or they leave. Letters and emails to the people who can be reached are ignored.

  2. My Mother-In-Law lives at Sodalis and there you are definitely treated like family, she gets very good care and attention, the staff is beyond wonderful, I am so grateful to all of them. Sodalis recently celebrated the September Birthdays with special reflection on my Mother-In-Law for her 100th Birthday! So much love, it was a very wonderful time. Thank you Sodalis for giving such wonderful care to your residents.
