At The Lantern at Morning Pointe Senior Living of Franklin, we offer the ability for loved ones to receive just the right amount of care within a city they have grown to love.
The only thing good about our experience with the Lantern in Franklin was our initial interview. Everything else was an absolute nightmare for us. We had to move mom to this facility in an emergency because she was incorrectly place at Morning Pointe in Spring Hill (a partner community). She had mixed dementia with several co-morbidities, and they put her in Assisted Living and soon after sent her to a geriatric psychiatric facility which felt like an insane asylum/prison because she wasn’t behaving appropriately. While there she was injected with medications for 20 days and suffered immense confusion. We weren’t allowed to bring her back to Morning Point in Spring Hill so we had to find her another place to live very quickly. We thought Lantern Franklin was going to be our answer to prayer, but it soon became evident it wasn’t. At the time there was a major staff overhaul, and everyone was in flux. Apparently a bunch of people had left at the same time. The new Director of Nursing was kind but in trainings. It took over two weeks before we could meet with anyone to do a care plan for mom (which never happened). They neglected to give her one of her most important medications for two weeks. Her room was always messy. She was frequently sitting in soiled clothes when we would arrive. They regularly locked the residents out of their rooms in order to keep them corralled in the front room because they were so short staffed. I had to take her laundry home because it was almost never done by staff. My mom had several issues because she suffered extreme abuse in her life, so not having a care plan was difficult. No one was ever able to help me come up with a plan to get her in the shower. She developed major rashes under her skin folds (she was overweight). Nearly every time I arrived to visit her I was given some negative report about her behavior as if she was the worst child in a daycare. The only kind words we heard about her were given on the day we moved her out. My dad, who has parkinson’s disease and on a fixed income, asked them to have mercy on him and to not charge him the fee for the month because we were moving mom out by the 2nd of the month. They refused and only offered him $500 for the fee to give mom her medication. They refused to do anything about missing her medication for 2 weeks or failing to provide her with a care plan. They charged my dad over $7K for a month my mom wasn’t there because of the “contract” he signed. No mercy. No ownership of their failures at all. I do not recommend this community at all. We moved my mom to another community in Franklin, and it was immediately night and day. They were able to help her right from the start. They kept her clean and cared for. They proved to me and my family that it wasn’t all just my mom being a bad resident. My mom has passed away now, 8 months after her horrendous experience at Lantern. It grieves me to this day when I think of the time she spent there, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
