Barcelona Assisted Living is located in beautiful, sunny McAllen Texas. Established in 2011 by Mario and Jeanette San Roman, our facility aims to provide quality and personal attention to residents in a beautiful, fun, safe, and wholesome environment.
I just want to applaud Nicholas and his staff at Barcelona Assisted Living for their excellent care of my grandmother. Their facility is clean, warm, and inviting. They prepare home cooked meals for their residents on a daily basis. Nicholas has been very responsive and helpful in answering my questions and getting my grandmother situated in such a short amount of time. I am grateful for the love and care they have shown to me and my grandmother.
I have been a long time volunteer at this facility. The staff is very friendly and courteous. The patients are fun to work with, and their meals always look fresh and healthy. Their is live music that comes, as well as pets to spend time with the residents. I always have a blast because the facility is clean and staff

My brother has been a resident of Barcelona for two years. I have found the staff and management to exceed all expectations. The friendly family enviroment is as advertised.
We moved my grandfather into this facility after we found he could no longer live on his own or take care of himself. We had really high hopes that this would prove to be the best outcome, however almost immediately there were issues.
When he first moved into the facility there were no blankets for him his first night, no toilet paper for the bathroom, and no towels for him to shower. The first night he spent fully clothed in bed under a thin sheet with the air conditioning on in the facility.
We had a few things sent to him while he was there to try to make his life more comfortable, but we found that they were often delayed on reaching him. The items would arrive at the facility then the staff would deliver them a few days to a week later.
One night when he returned late from a hospital visit, he arrived to find a locked door to the facility. They pounded on the door for the better part of an hour before somebody finally heard them and came to open the door. Two elderly people locked out late at night and nobody monitoring…
The last straw was when he was in the hospital for another visit, somebody came into his room and started using his computer without his permission.
This place is a disaster… choose another place.

I see Barcelona has taken notice of the negative review.
Instead of calling and apologizing for the issues that came up during my grandfathers brief stay, they decided to deny everything, and on top of that, decided to call a 95 year old woman and try to strong arm her into having this review taken down by telling her they were thinking about suing.
I find it interesting how I have left little identifying info, only the incidents that occurred, and yet they knew exactly which client was being referred to when they made their phone calls. They know what I post is true, and instead of apologizing for it, they are attempting to have it scrubbed from their company history.
You guys know you did wrong and then you doubled down on it. Shame on you threatening an old woman.
Every company makes mistakes or has some sort of issues, but you can especially tell a lot about them by how they attempt to resolve those issues.
If you choose to utilize the services of this place, I hope your friends and family have a better experience than ours. Best of luck.
I have a family member their and they have excellent services. She always tells me how good the food is. The management has always been their to help if she needs anything including the staff. The staff is always very loving with my family member, yet always professional.
