Tried my best not do this but here we go. My application was denied, for quite honestly no reason; Gloria, whom I’ve never met but processed my application, initially said “they” denied my application for reasons she doesn’t know, then a minute later changed the reason and said it was because “they” weren’t able to verify my employment… but no one at my company’s office ever got a call, text or email from anyone at Vistas At Hackberry. And during our first phone call, which was about 2 hours prior to that conversation, she said the application process will take 5-7 days, but again, rejected my application within two hours from that conversation. (Maybe I annoyed her with my calls, texts and emails? I apologize, I was looking for a place to live, which was pretty important to me.) OK fine, she said I would get a refund within 2-3 months by check and that was about a month ago, honesty it shouldn’t take that long to process a refund (which makes me think it’s a lie) and if it does they need to communicate that reason and answer the phone or emails but it has been extremely difficult getting ahold of anyone. I have to call from different numbers because I’m pretty sure they have my number blocked.
On the bright side, I had a great time touring in person with Kimberly, she’s a genuine person however the corporate folks on the other hand are quite weird. Anyways, hope it was worth it!
Can’t choose your own internet anymore. Vistas force their provider on you. That’s never good for the tenant, only the apartments who of course are getting a cut from the internet service provider.
10/25/2024 Customer service is getting worse. Office hours have shortened , you’ll be dealing with off-site customer service. It does not work.
As of March 2024 tenant guests are charged to park…and the visitor parking is inconvenient to 80 percent of residents.
*Update 7/8/22
My catalytic converter was stolen from my car. I posted on the community wall to warn other tenants but it was never approved to be posted. Do they not want tenants to know ?
No response from my email to apartment manager. I’m continually polite with no response. Neighbor said he called 6 times Thursday with no answer. Likely turned the phones off again.
*Update 7/2/22 Rent going up again, but still rotting cabinets, snails, foundation problems, trashy looking insulation on doors. Fix the the problems and I’ll edit the review, until then the apartments are getting trashier and more expensive. ROTTING CABINETS* old old light switches. This apartment could not be rented as is.
Still paying 35.00 to look at people’s trash in the walkway half the day because the “valet” trash has not picked it up.
Tenants would prefer not to pay 35.00 to look at trash when they could take it to the dumpster like adults do.You can’t find one tenant that wants this “service.”
I’ve lived in these apartments for 3 years so there is some good and some bad.
First I’ll start with the good.
1. The neighborhood is nice, it’s kind of tucked away from busy traffic.
2. Maintenance calls have been answered mostly promptly.
3. New Management has worked with me some on a couple issues that have come up.
4. For the most part the tenants are quiet and peaceful.
5. The grounds are kept up fairly well.
Now to the not so good…
1. There are a couple of stray cats that I have complained about with nothing being done. Not usually a problem except when they are in heat and you can hear them screaming.
2. They have replaced most of the grass on the property with rocks. Obviously to save money on groundskeeping, but they are not passing any savings on to tenants. Also now you will see more rocks in the parking lot.
3. The cabinets in most of the apartments are original. Meaning old and outdated. Also be wary of a strong spice smell in the cabinets from previous residents.
4. There is no weight limit on dogs. Not a huge problem, but something to consider.
5. For the first couple years if I called the office someone would answer. Within the last year it’s extremely rare for the office to answer the phone. And no call backs if you leave a message.
6. They will charge you $35 for valet trash pickup whether you want it or not.
So essentially you will be looking at your neighbor’s trashbags in the walkway a lot of the time. And you don’t have a choice to opt out of it, none of the residents want the service, at least the ones I have talked to.
7. You used to be able to swipe your debit card for laundry and be done. Now with a price increase, you have to enter in all your card information or download their app.
8. The water is cut off usually about once a month, sometimes all day. They’ve had the same problem since I’ve been here with the water. They usually give notice but it is still a hassle sometimes.
9. You used to have to have a pass to get in the fitness center. Now it just stays unlocked 24 hours which seems a bit unsafe if you want to work out late.
10. With each new lease the rent has gone up,but I’m not sure what I’m paying more for. In fact, in my apartment building the foundation is bad, so there’s cracked walls from the foundation. I was essentially told what do I expect from 30-year-old apartments. I don’t remember a bad foundation being in my lease. So my rent has gone up about 200.00 since my first lease 2.5 yrs ago. I don’t see anything that I am getting for that extra 200.00
