My name is Vince. Here is my honest review without biased. I’d like to give a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 Stars because I believe there’s always room for improvement!
My Father stayed at Garden Park Care center Garden Grove California for 10 years before he passed away in 2013. Now, my Mother is at the same place. It was NOT a very good management run in the past. The facility was old, dirty and a bit filthy but they re-invested and remodeled the facility in the last few years, and with new management, especially with Dean Gunnell chosen to run as their administrator, I think it’s the best choice! He is charming, warm, understanding and especially a good listener. He put himself in other people’s shoes to really comprehend their circumstances. Listening skill is the first most critical component in customer service besides following up on matter/s of important whether it’s internal or external CS for that matter. I think he has all the attributes to be in this position and more. I would like to congratulate him on the job well done every day. His work ethics and his compassion are undeniable present at all time when dealing with us and others as I can see throughout. I think he views his duties as his mission and commitment to help the elderly, aging population more than just a job. He’s gone out of his way over and beyond what his work requires in some cases. He is very thoughtful and always look out for his residents, employees and others. I am grateful and thankful for his help to me, my Mother in particular and others in general!
He enlisted the great help from the people he chooses to work for him. Most people/employees I think are very decent, patient and compassion in this field of employment. They seemed to be happy, smiling and attentive to the residents enough to assure me of my trust in them and in Dean’s. This is a privately owned profit organization so it must balance out how many staffs/employees they should have per residents in order to make profit to stay in business. On the other hand, they have to abide by Federal/State/County/City laws and regulations even with non-profit organization is the same thing. However, I think they did a GOOD job overall. The only thing I’d like to see is if they can upgrade/fix their plumbing system with regards to the toilet, shower because it seemed like the whole plumbing system is in a bad shape, and slowly drain ever after a few flushes. Just before this review is being published; On Saturday December 14, 2024, when I turned on the water in the lavatory in my mother room, there was a burst of water rushed/expelled out of the faucet with air, bubble and rusty yellow running water. So, I thought this can only be that they were doing some issues with plumbing. Anyway, as I suspected the whole water system is very old and should be upgrade/re-pipe for health reason in my opinion and please turn on the hot water a bit because there was not much hot water. Otherwise, I think I am contented over all of the people and facilities. I’d recommend this Garden Park Care center for those of you looking for a good nursing home for your parents and loved ones. Over the past one and half years, I’ve been volunteering to care for an old priest at Garden Park Care Center. This is an outstanding facility. It’s bright and kept clean from inside out and without any smells throughout the facility.
Every staff there…from Admins team, office staffs, rehab team, nurses, CNAs to building maintenance and cleaning crews are not only professional but also kind and friendly. They went above and beyond my expectations and take excellent care of all their residents. I usually stay longer on the weekends and noticed the nurses and CNAs checked-in on their residents frequently throughout the day and cared about their wellbeing. They treat with respects not only to this priest (when I’m present) but all other residents (with no family around).
When I had any concerns, the management team: Dean, Paul, nurse supervisors Jennifer and Glena took times to listen to and assist me.
Thanks so much to all the staffs at Garden Park Care Center. I will recommend this facility to my relatives and friends. If you are looking for a place to care for your loved ones, Garden Park Care Center would be the ideal facility!
As of this date, October 5th 2024, I am and have been a resident of this facility for the past two months. I am giving the most favorable review because my experiences here have been most outstanding. To think that everyone that works here job is to evaluate and provide for the needs of the residents, and is my case preparing them to manage in their future. Everyone, from maintenance/cleaning staff, great meals, physical therapy, nursing/attending to personal needs and administration were here to serve, and ALL do a great job.
