I do not even know where to start. I am wondering if they hire the worst and laziest of aides or whether home
health aides are generally just poor workers. In any event, my mother is an Alzheimer’s patient and this agency has provided live-in home health aide service. The aides have allowed my mother to sit in her urine soaked clothes for periods of time, causing her to have to be admitted because of UTI’s. One ate my mother’s food at a senior center and physically yanked her arm–the center actually reported this. When Sandy struck and my mother was impacted by a prolonged LIPA blackout, we secured a warm residence in the home of a nurse, and this agency demanded that we bring my mother back to the cold house with the aide. Further, their solution to the cold dark house was to put my mother in a shelter. They claimed that the law did not allow the aide out of Nassau County and we were able to check on that, and learn that that was a lie. Lydia, the agency’s coordinator was responsible and her behavior was reprehensible. My mother is recently hospitalized and the assigned aide chose to accompany her to the hospital. The senior center called the ambulance. Lydia found out that the aide was there and proceeded to call and scream into the phone. She continued to scream and when we responded in kind, she pulled the case and left my mother without service. What is particularly galling is the founder was an actual colleague and friend of my mother in healthier processional days–Beverly Johnson. The woman was at my wedding. She has allowed this pervasive and abusive behavior to happen to someone that was actually a friend. To this day, I am baffled.
Post hospitalization the aids went the extra mile
It was very hard for my father living alone after his surgery. This agency provided the best service. And the nurses were caring.
Long Island Care was a very professional agency. The people are caring. It was difficult dealing with my husband who has dementia. The live in aid took excellent care of him. I recommend.
The best home care agency. I recommend it 100%. My mom’s finals days went comfortable. The staff and the aid were so supportive. Lydia and Yonette were so helpful on the phone.
