I’ve been here many times to visit over the years. I have always found it to be pleasant. They have many activities and facilities available. Among the activities are a weight room, a large indoor pool, a greenhouse with many plants and a very nice dining hall. I’ve also eaten here many times and the food is always excellent. There’s a large variety of foods as well. You get an amazing view of Cayuga lake that is always beautiful. They have a really decent waiting area. In this waiting area inside the building they have finches in a large cage. They take good care of them. Any staff I’ve ever met has been very courteous and most helpful. I’d feel completely comfortable here and I have no qualms about my parents spending time in this wonderful place.
The Longview organization and community has served my parents extremely well for over 6 years. Multiple levels of care have allowed my parents to stay together and partake of the great programming and association with Ithaca College. A fantastic place to age in place!
I rented and furnished an independent living residence there. As it turned out I did not sleep there a single night or have a single meal there. It cost me thousands of dollars and I complained to the NYS Attorney General’s office. Got me nowhere.
The place is under direction and operated by the Geriatric Dept. of the college across the street. They use it as guinea pigs for their program. As a result the operations, instead of a professional property management business, it is administered by a bunch of bubble gummers.
It didn’t take me long to discover that they made up their own rules as they went along, did not honor their previous commitments or even established rules in their literature. No one is held accountable. CEO did nothing. No agency you can turn to.
Soul killing as far as I am concerned. Unless you are good at denying outrage, avoid this place.
