Mayberry Gardens provides a ‘home like’ environment in which Seniors feel comfortable and thrive. We offer a variety of services including assistance with daily living activities and memory care.
Mayberry Gardens is a special assisted living and memory care residence providing family-style living for seniors who need some assistance, but don’t require full-time skilled nursing care.
Run far far away from this place. When we put my mom in over 2 years ago it was great. Then new ownership took over and it was awful. Long time employees left, food quality went down and they would set the a/c to a ridiculous amount. One of our last weekends there, my dog wouldn’t even eat the food that was served. We had to go buy my mom her own dinner. We also had to call management because they set the a/c to 83 degrees and it was 90 degrees outside. They had a lock box around the thermostat that the house employees couldn’t get to. We couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Mom has been at Mayberry for 18 months now in the safe memory care. It was wonderful in the beginning. Vera was an exceptional loving caregiver. Recently THEY moved mom to a new building and no more Vera. It seems no one cares anymore about mom or her stuff.Everything I have brought to mom disappears including 4 pair of glasses that she needs. Her pictures and treasured books are not out for her to get to since she has little or no use of her hands. Mostly when I pop in she is laying in the dark in her bed or chair just waiting to die. It is heartbreaking
If you were to ask me 2 years ago my review would have been higher but the new management has set the bar for assisted living facilities on the ground. Where to begin. My mother had a stroke in 2004 but lived with my father until he passed. She is physically disabled but otherwise fine. We chose this facility because of its location and the fact it claimed to have physical therapy available as well as activities for the residents.
The new management fired the events coordinator and the therapy company to save money. That did not stop them from wanting to raise rent over $1,000. We declined to renew.
Amongst the laundry list of complaints that I have for this place include, locking the air conditioning unit so that no one could adjust the temperature and setting it at 84 degrees when it is 90 degrees outside, not having a fully working kitchen including not even having a can opener, workers who get into screaming matches that almost turned physical, workers that we had to report multiple times for being rude and disrespectful to my mother, and more. The most flagrant issue was when even after knowing my mother does not have her own power of attorney the new owner tried to get her to sign a document to place her in hospice so that he could milk her for more money. She is nowhere near in need of that.
If you love your mother, do not subject her to this facility. We moved her out as soon as the lease was up. When we packed up her items it was very clear that the staff had neglected to do the routine cleaning of her room which was supposed to be a part of the duties for them. If depressing were personified it would be this facility. I would not wish this place on another person’s mother and I am glad to have mine moved out.
