Although the reputation of this facility seems bad I would like to say that my experience here is just wonderful. My grandma is always smiling and tells me how much she likes the place. I see that the care staff is always looking after her and other residents. I haven’t had any bad experiences and I hope I never do. The activities they have always keeps my grandmother busy. Her happiness is my happiness. Thank you all so much! Truly means a lot.
Also a big shout out to the administrator (Marhlyn Sapugay). She always makes sure that everything is in order. If there is a slight inconvenience she makes sure to quickly fix the little problem. Thank you so much Marhlyn.
This was the perfect place for my aunt. She had no living relatives close to her and we knew it would not be much longer that she would be able to stay with us. It was just too expensive to hire full-time caregivers so she could still stay at home. We tried for a few weeks, but we didn’t always get the same care givers and when they did show up, they would chat among themselves but didn’t engage with my aunt. We chose Pepper Tree because it offered companionship and was small enough that the ratio of caregivers to residents was more than adequate. My aunt was happy to engage with other residents closer to her age and could relate better to her life experiences as an actress in Los Angeles. My aunt passed and she was not alone. I feel so grateful and blessed for the wonderful care she received at this beautiful facility. And reading the other reviews, I understand from personal experience how death can cause us so much grief that we are quick to blame others.
This is a clean, well run facility that provides a home-like environment for the residents. The residents needs are constantly being assessed by the staff and each one has an individual plan of care developed by the staff. I don’t hesitate to recommend this assisted care facility.
IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNER:
Stephanie,
When did you get your medical licensing? I’m impressed that you knew facts of my grandmother’s health that even I was unaware of! Which is shocking considering how involved I was in her care. Especially her Gastrointestinal health care. And her G-TUBE care, not sure what a G-VENT is? Never heard of such a medical device.
My grandmother was brought the ER on September 26th at 0915 AM after your staff fed her shredded beef & cucumbers the night before due to excessive nausea & vomiting all night. She had a KNOWN history which your staff knew of & YOU did too, since we gave you a list of foods my grandmother can & cannot eat. We have text messages btwn family & staff stating my grandmother cannot eat beef. staff replied, then please send your own groceries, which we ALWAYS DID, again have amazon prime receipts. However, for some reason she was still not fed her food & was given the food made by the staff when it was CLEARLY not safe. & shredded beef & hard waxy vegetables are NOT something a person with an extensive history of SBO’s & esophageal webbing needing esophageal dilation should be eating. SBO’s mean Small bowel obstructions. And esophageal dilation bsclly means she CHOKES on food esp meat & could aspirate-but that’s a whole other topic that unfortunately my grandmother had upon her chest Xr at the ER on 9/26. “Lifesaving devices” that’s a bold claim. Intubation? Really Stephanie? How can you really sit there & type that lie? Please tell me when my grandmother had an intubation tube down her throat breathing for her? I don’t remember this? She was NEVER in ICU- ICU means Intensive care unit. Of course we knew she was sick, but for you to try to put all these medical facts to even try to blame her/US is disgusting. We sent her back to your facility for end-of-life care, hospice, not to immediately die a week later. She was never on any “artificial feeding tubes” either. The g-tube was for colon decompression from the many SBO’s. She was having continuous output from the g-tube needing continuous drainage from the g-tube. It was NEVER FOR FEEDING. None of these “kept her alive” nor were they “heroic” they were HOSPICE aka COMFORT. Which is why she was sent back to you because you fooled everyone into believing you could care for higher level patients . I don’t understand your attempt to make my grandmother look sicker than she was in the hospital just because of the simple fact that you were in over your head. You do not know health care. You do not know medical terminology. You do not have a medical licensing. The simple fact was that you took a higher care patient for your facility and you could not handle it. Stop pointing fingers, & blaming the family. Those are lies about my family & I wont even address it. Ridiculous.
ORIGINAL:
This facility was good to my grandmother when she was healthy and able, unfortunately things took a turn when she wasn’t. When we needed the facility to step up and care for our grandmother who was a higher level of care (who they not only agreed to take back but assured us and hospice they could properly care for my grandmother) they did NOT meet anyones expectations. My grandmother was brought back with a g tube which Stephanie K. (the owner) assured us again her and her staff took training classes on. However within three days I received a call that my grandmother was on her deathbed. When the simple fact was irresponsibility and lack of care and concern from the pepper tree staff. When we were rightfully upset and expressed our concerns to the staff we were met with coldness and lack of empathy. We were constantly met with battles and resistance with the facility and it’s staff during our already difficult times. During no time was any of the staff kind, heartfelt or comforting. Sadly, this facility has left the memory of grandmothers death an unfortunate one. Whatever you do please do not trust this facility with your loved ones on their last days especially if they require higher care. They will lie and manipulate just for the paycheck.
