The Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides a comprehensive service system designed to assist seniors in maintaining independence and dignity while removing barriers to economic and personal independence.
The Suffolk County Office for the Aging is the designated Area Agency on Aging under the Older Americans Act. The Office has administered programs for persons 60 years of age and older for almost 50 years.
The people who work here are supposed to be “counselors” who help desperate, lost senior citizens of Suffolk County in need. I spoke to 3 of them on separate occasions and they’re anything but counselors. They’re fast talkers who really don’t seem to care about your severe hardship in Suffolk County as a senior, they rush you off the phone and don’t help with anything. When you call back to ask for more help they suggested and got no help, they never call you back or follow up. This “Office of the Aging” is a big waste, I’m my experience don’t help and don’t care about helping seniors with their horrible problems and in my opinion the Office of the Aging should be disbanded. It was useless in helping this senior with anything.
