The Bristal at East Meadow offers a warm and down-to-earth atmosphere, yet is located in the heart of Nassau County on Long Island.

My Name is Greg and my mother Joan just passed. She loved her two short years here.
She loved everything about it , most of the caregivers, the meals and things to do.
I wish she was able to go back there now.
She had a wonderful apartment. It was expensive yes, but understandable when you are at an Assisted Living facility.
The Community Dir Gina was top notch as was the Exec Director Debra.
Everyone even knew me, which I thought was a nice bonus of sorts.
A++++ Facility
If you are in need of a great, caring Assisted Living don’t hesitate anymore! My brother, who is a disabled vet with a mental impairment resides at The Bristal East Meadow. He has been in 4 assisted Living facilities over the past 15 years on Long Island and this is the BEST community by far! He started out in the Assisted living apartment in February 2020 and it was recognized that he was in need of the Reflections unit by August 2020. He is THRIVING now and enjoys himself everyday! The Executive Director Abdul and the entire staff throughout the community is wonderful. The Reflections staff from Crista and her team go above and beyond with the residents. The activity directors keep everyone busy! Most importantly, the care and caution they took throughout Covid and still currently has been so reassuring. I am at peace knowing he is in a safe place. Thank you Everyone for caring for my Big brother so well! xoxo
The Bristal East Meadow is a five star across the board assisted living! So many helpful, friendly staff members work here, and the food is top notch. There are so many activities to keep the residents engaged and entertained.
Do not put your relative in the Bristol memory care/reflections at East Meadow. They basically warehouse them there. out of bed in the morning and sit them in the common area for a few hours, move them to the TV area, then back to the common area. They take away their walkers and lock their rooms so they are basically stuck to sitting between 2 areas all day. Its terrible. If you hate your relative put them there. My parent was being over medicated and could not keep her eyes open during the day. When I asked their doctor to spell out the medications she was on his reply was “Don’t go googling them, your not the doctor, I’m the doctor”. Disgusting and disgusted.
The Bristal is fine as long as your family member is self suffient. My mom was in reflections for 5.5 years until she was discharged from a 9 day hospital stay due to dehydration and malnutrition. She was in the hospital because Bristal staff were not allowed to assist in spoon feeding. At discharge Management would not take her back because she needed more care like feeding. Around Covid, I had spoken to a women Maureen Scalesi in Bristal Corporate which assured me staff are required to hand feed residents if needed. Three years later I called Maureen back and she never returned my calls. I now had 2 days to find a new facility for mom that would give her the care needed. I found a new place, moved her in, mom was eating well but then died the 3rd week from complications as per the hospice doctor from not being feed all those months. If their feeding policy changed I should have been informed. I visited every week and would ask how did mom eat and was always told she ate well. I also had to install a camera for physical abuse that I caught from one staff member who is still working there after addressing it with management. They are definitely understaffed and have a very high turnover rate in Directors which is a red flag. After five and half years I would have thought they would have had a little more compassion.
Response to Owner. As I spent the last 10 years of my career reporting to CMS and the NYSDOH for a NYC hospital and Nursing Home, I am well aware of your responsibilities to assist in feeding residents who cannot feed themselves. My mother was not a choking risk and ate fine while in the hospital and for her last 3 weeks. Visitors are never allowed in the dining area during meal time and I now know why. You should add that to your website regarding visitors. You and from what I’m hearing other Bristals are dropping the ball in administering proper care to their residents. ALL SOMEONE HAD TO DO IS LET ME KNOW YOU WERE NOT GOING TO FEED HER AND I WOULD HAVE FOUND ANOTHER PLACE.
