My mom was at The Villages Skilled Nursing after a fall. I could not have picked a better place for her to recover. The staff was so kind, interactive, compassionate and HAPPY! My mom got very good care and therapy in a safe and clean environment. They had entertainment events weekly and they made sure she had a crossword puzzle every morning. The atmosphere is homey as well. We would often take my mom to the activity room or patio to play games and they have a supply of games, books and jigsaw puzzles for the use of patients and visitors. Even when I was being a nagging family member they would tell me ‘you are advocating for your mother just like you should be.’ If I could give more stars I would.
After a very extensive leg and foot reconstructive surgery, I was admitted to the Village Skilled Nursing Rehab. Due to the amount of Healing and Rehab necessary I was there for 60 days. The care that I received was absolutely amazing. The staff on the floor, PT and OT were very professional, courteous and caring for the needs of the people In their care. I knew of the different levels of care at the Village but didn’t know about Rehab.
This place is a hidden Gem right in the middle of Germantown. I highly recommend this place if you unfortunately have a need for their services .
Many reviews come from people who have visited or toured this facility. My review is from experience lasting 14 years from the time my mother entered independent living, then assisted living, and finally their long term unit.
While living in independent living my mom was very happy with the facility. The transition to assisted living was difficult, and although more expensive, the level of care was extremely lacking. Nursing turnover was constantly high and use of temporary CNA’s from other agencies was the norm. Mom had some dementia and the constant change in staff was very confusing to her. It also was difficult for me to get feedback from people who cared for her because on one person was ever there long enough. Night time help was a nightmare. I finally had to hire my own people to care for her during the nights because she was so neglected. Some very nice nurses who were outstanding care givers got fired for minor issues. Management personnel were constantly changing without notice. Management seemed more interested in $$$ rather than making sure residents were being properly cared for. Mom was, a times, both verbally and physically mistreated. Bringing these issues up with management had no effect in terms of improving the care. While in long term care mom’s care was even worse. Her hearing aids were constantly being broken or lost. At one time there was a hearing aid in her room that wasn’t even hers. I had to constantly fight to get the care that she deserved and required. I could continue with what I experienced but I think you get the picture. The topping on the cake is that I’ve waited a year now to be reimbursed the 90% entrance fee, and still don’t have it. If you are thinking of living here, think again. I would suggest you have a lawyer look over the contract and add a time limit for reimbursement and/or penalties if not returned within a timely manor. And ask what “or similar” means when referring to the unit that you bought into. Better yet, go somewhere else!
Update; it’s now been 18 months since my mom has passed, and we’re still waiting for the refund of her deposit. They are not transparent in how they apply the refunds. It seems like they can twist the contract to their advantage, and there is no time limit on this. If you are even considering this place to spend the rest of your life, get a lawyer! It’s been said that they now have a stable staff on board? In my 14 years of experience, staff was always in turmoil. Agency nursing is their go to especially at night. These temp nurses and CNA’s have little experience and are not familiar with your loved one, and therefore don’t know how to care for them. Yes, this place is attractive on the outside, but what counts is what goes on in the inside, and it’s not pretty!
Well, we’re now at 31 months and counting. Still no refund and no communication as to how they are dealing with the people on their list. I started at #12 and I’m now at #3, and there has been no movement for about 6 months. There are 3 types of abuse, physical, mental, and financial. The Village has checked all three boxes.
If anyone knows a good contract lawyer, please let me know! If you think this can’t happen to you, think again!
Ok, now 35 months and still counting. Have not heard a word from the Village since February. They usually send monthly updates which could mean another turnover of personnel, they have lost track, or maybe “The check is in the mail”? I’m sure they are going through their list of excuses and have run out! If you don’t want this to happen to you, go to a lawyer and have them look for loopholes in their contract. I promise you they were there 4 years ago and may still be there. They not only can keep the interest on my Mom’s money but there is no ceiling on the time frame which they must comply. So do your due diligence on the math to determine how much of your money they can hold and can wait until eternity to pay you back. Don’t fall victim to this scam, go somewhere else!
**Three years now, RIDICULOUS!! They keep earning interest! SHAME!
I have lived in Germantown for 32 years. As part of my job, I had the opportunity to be in the facilities of The Village at Germantown and was impressed with the excellent communication among the staff and residents. I also appreciated the presence of medical assistance on site at all times, including a safety team.
When our Dad died in 2020, we knew that our Mom living out of town from all her children wasn’t good. We wanted Mom to continue her independence, but safely. We have been so happy and appreciative of the facility amenities, including the wonderful food and restaurant service. This excellent customer service also includes the helpful and friendly front desk greeting all, the housekeeping team and administration guidance.
They took care of my grandma for her rehab needs following a surgery. Great service, very friendly staff, great food, clean facility. I highly recommend this place. Great job everyone!
