Some of the memory care staff neglect the residents. Management is also a problem. Sometimes caregivers are short staffed and Evan, the executive director gets upset when they have to stay and do overtime . Some of the dining staff need to have a smile on their faces when they serve the residents .
My mother reluctantly moved to Ventura Townehouse 2.5 years ago, (at 94), and it has been a wonderful place for her. I agree with the reviewer who says it’s a cross between a fancy hotel and a cruise ship. The facility and the grounds are beautiful and well maintained. There are endless, varied activities for those who want to join. The staff goes above and beyond to make each resident feel cared for and special. They know everyone’s name and even their likes and dislikes. I live on the east coast, but each time I visit I am so impressed with the family-like atmosphere and the care provided. Despite her initial hesitation to move into assisted living, my mother is now living her best life at what she calls the “Pamper Palace”.
There are many exceptional people here. I would like to mention Harvey that gave us our first tour and I ended up renting my apartment from him. We have a number of people that provide many activities,parties and special events for us. I would like to commend Nancy Borgnine. Her personality and energy are enlivening to all of us.
