My husband arrived last night from Mercy Hospital to Buffalo Center Rehabilitation on Delaware Ave., Buffalo. My husband has had his 5th stroke. This has been his worst one. His left side has major weakness making him not able to walk on his own. The aides told us he has to go to the bathroom in a diaper they put on him. The bathroom that is in his bathroom has feces on the wall and all over the toilet caused by his roommate. His roommate said that it is normal for everyone to go to the bathroom in their bed. How is this humane? When I (his wife) arrived this morning his clothes and sheets were soaked in urine. According to the aide my husband said I would change him. What was my reaction. If upon arrival someone came in to greet Jim and ask me details about my husband they would know he is confused by this past stroke. I waited until visiting hours were up and there was still no one. I was told by the aide someone would change his blanket and get him situated with fresh sheets and blanket and give him water. None of that was done. When my son arrived I told him I had been here for 2 1/2 hours and know one has come in. We both went to the nurses station to be ignored by all those on their cell phones. Finally, I don’t know ow who he was asked can I help you. I told him my concerns and he never gave me eye contact. When my son and I were in the hallway waiting for my husband to finally be cleaned and changed a staff person said this is horrible place to be. I am working on getting my husband out of here.
Talked to Nursing Supervisor at shift change. She said someone would bring a bed pan for my husband and send house cleaning for the bathroom. It has been over an hour and we are still waiting. What on earth is wrong with this place.
Going on 5:30 and still no bed pan.
Finally bed pan came at 5:34.
Absolutely horrible they disconnect the phones at 8pm the beds don’t work stuff forgot the give my father his medication after dinner and didn’t give him anything until 11am when my sister got that to visit at 11am the call but for the nurses station was disconnected when I walked in my father was laying there crying because he could not eat his dinner he is on a renal diet everythingbwasnstuff he couldn’t eat not to mention he is unable to use his hands and no one offered to help him he just sat there staring at his food and he can’t walk the nurse told him be ready and outside waiting for his dialysis ride in the morning how is he supposed to do that when his arms and legs do not work I would put my worst enemy there
My family member went there. He is on dialysis and has cancer. He is having trouble with his hands so cutting food is difficult. When he got there they gave him food he couldn’t eat because of his dietary restrictions. They threw the food in front of him and left. He was sitting in a diaper unable to move, starving with food in front of him. The place was a mess. When the issue was brought up, the nurse pretty much said he’s dying anyways what do you want us to do about it. He may be dying , but no one wants to see their loved one die like that. Absolutely traumatic and disgusting. Other patients even said how horrible the place is. Do not send your family here if you care about them at all.
Their website is very deceiving, the rooms are not anything like the picture on the website,far from it. Staff is uninterested, uncaring, and dismissive. 4 1/2 hours waiting in a dark, dingy and smelly room. No one came to check, or deliver meds and no call button anywhere. Asked twice for help with using the bathroom and no one came. Finally went up to nurses station and asked for a urinal and they said they couldn’t find one! Brought a bed pan and left and did not return. Another patient stated that he waited 5 hrs to get his meds. At 4 pm his lunch tray was still sitting there. Read reviews, the place has been find a few times because of this lackadaisical behavior by staff. When tried to leave was told that we couldn’t use the wheelchair. When I asked how we were to get to the car the “receptionist” told me to let him walk. He had 2 fractured hips! All the staff does is hang around the desk and cackle. Totally unprofessional. Bottom line I wouldn’t board my dog their overnight.
For once you cannot get through on the telephone I have to go and change the sheets on my boyfriend’s bed there’s always debris on the floor and when you call to talk to the nurse on the second floor they get very ignorant with you if you can get through I’m called the social worker many many times and he never calls back James is his name I don’t recommend this place for nobody and I am going to call the state nobody should live like this those people there that smells like urine and his roommate each with a fingernails that’s how long they are and some of the patients they’re here you could tell they laid in a urine some patients urinate on the floor and they just throw a towel on it and walk away what is wrong with this place and when you tell them that your loved one has a doctor’s appointment they send them to the doctors with no coat in the middle of the window with shorts and nobody goes with them they need to close this down
