Founded in 2000, Sungarden Terrace is a premier boutique retirement community centered in Lemon Grove, California.
Absolutely horrendous place to bring your loved one. Susan and Claudia are rude, unprofessional, and bully the people around them. Please do NOT place your loved one in their care. They should be reported for their behavior towards the elderly and others around them.
Wonderful community. The staff are a lovely bunch.
Was touring for family member and the staff were very helpful. The place was well maintained and made me feel like this was a great option!
I am writing this review from a place of deep gratitude and utmost respect for the unparalleled service and care that Sungarden Terrace Retirement Home offered to my beloved grandmother before she passed away. I, as her grandson, couldn’t have wished for a better sanctuary for her in the final chapters of her life.
From the first moment we stepped into Sungarden Terrace, we were captivated by the warmth of the place. The facility is exceptionally well-maintained and designed to make residents feel right at home. It is a sprawling, sunny oasis that perfectly blends indoor comfort with lush, outdoor beauty—a genuine testament to the ‘sungarden’ in its name.
What truly sets Sungarden Terrace apart, however, is its exceptional staff. From the caregivers to the administration and housekeeping, each member of their team treated my grandmother with utmost respect and dignity. Their tender care, genuine concern, and constant companionship provided her with a sense of belonging. The staff was ever vigilant, ensuring her health and comfort were always a priority. Her room was always clean, and meals were not only nutritious but tailored to her preferences—a true reflection of their commitment to personalized care.
The activities they provide are thoughtful, engaging, and inclusive, designed to cater to various interests and abilities. My grandmother particularly enjoyed the garden walks and painting classes. Such activities not only kept her physically active but mentally stimulated, which is crucial in a retirement setting.
In addition, the communication with families was outstanding. Sungarden Terrace kept us informed of my grandmother’s health progress and daily activities. The open communication established a trust that was deeply reassuring.
Their end-of-life care deserves special mention. They handled this delicate period with exceptional grace and compassion, ensuring my grandmother was comfortable and at peace. They guided us through every step, extending their support to our family during the trying time.
The safety measures in place, from emergency systems to secured entrances, were of the highest standards, ensuring a secure environment for residents.
For anyone seeking a retirement home for their loved ones, I wholeheartedly recommend Sungarden Terrace. Their commitment to care, compassionate staff, engaging activities, and safe environment make it a second home for the elderly. As a family member, it was a relief to know that my grandmother was in the best hands.
In summary, Sungarden Terrace offered not just a place for my grandmother to live—it provided her a vibrant community, a sense of dignity, and a level of care that reassured us every day that we made the right choice. She lived her last days in comfort, surrounded by caring staff and friends she made there. Her memory, in part, lives on within the comforting walls and sunny gardens of Sungarden Terrace.
This is not a place for family members , they are not equipped with any license staff , there have been many times where we were left in the memory care unit with patients and no staff for longer than 20 mins at a time . Lots of falls with the residents , at one point my grandma fell her face was so huge, purple and swollen no one contacted us until we came to visit and then they decided to calll 911. They also do not know how she fell even though they have cameras. We always supplied my grandma with very nice new clothes , briefs etc and yet she was always wearing dirty old clothes that did not belong to her , when she was not able to dress herself staff dressed her so she should have her clean clothes on . We have made multiple complaints that sun garden never took serious , as a nurse who worked in a skilled nursing facility for over 10 years and now a supervisor of a clinic this is not a place to have your family member . There are many amazing residents here that we will miss , but this is a very unsafe , under staffed not trained place . I hope that they really make some needed changes to take Better care of there residents .
