My father was there for 10 days this past summer. The place is beautiful but the care is awful. He was there for rehab. They left him in bed all day. They did not pay attention to his congestive heart failure. He gained 10 pounds of water weight while he was there. When he was starting to have trouble breathing we took him back to the hospital. The looked shocked when I said I wanted transport to the hospital. He easily could have died there.
The Actors Fund Home is a great place. My mom was here for several weeks and she received the best care. The staff is caring and very helpful. The best decision we made was sending her here for rehab. A special thank you to January Young (food services), nurses Tracey and Martha, aides Marleney and Maria and the physical therapists. Everyone was very attentive to her needs and she received the best care. THANK YOU!!!!
1st class rehab for post surgery.
Jordan/Kathy and team are very welcoming and make sure patients are well cared for and treated with respect.
A one of a kind of place to recuperate
What can I say other than we are forever grateful to the The Entertainment Community Fund, Jordan Strohl, and everyone at The Actor’s Fund Home. We were at a loss. Attempt after failed attempt at getting my wife’s mother the help and care she so needed. We had been told for about 3 years that she could no longer live on her own and needed full time in home care or to be in a facility. My wife and I are in the entertainment industry. We have worked on Broadway, TV, and Film for about 25 years. That being said we are not wealthy nor come from wealth. We have two small children and live in a small 2 bedroom apartment in the city. We could not afford all of the care her mother needed but we were about to take it on because we had no options. By some grace of the universe we did a short lived new Broadway show and by chance met the head of The Entertainment Community Fund. I spoke with Barbara Davis about what my mother in-law needed and how we had hit so many dead ends. We had no way of supporting her and our two small children. It would financially cripple us. She told us about The Actor’s Fund Home in NJ and we communicated we tried that avenue but were met with little hope there from others we knew affiliated with the home. She then instructed us to contact Jordan Strohl and that they together would do everything in their power to help us. THEY DID! Jordan gave us all the resources and essentially moved mountains for us!! My Mother in Law was approved for Medicaid in a very short time. MIRACLE! She is now on Medicaid and in the nursing home wing of The Actor’s Fund Home receiving the full time help and care she most certainly needed. The home exceeds all standards. It is immaculately maintained and nurses and aides are kind and helpful. We have no words for how incredibly generous Jordan, Barbara, The Entertainment Community Fund, and The Actor’s Fund Home have been to our family. After struggling for so long… knowing what we needed but couldn’t do alone we were fatefully connected with these people through a passion project. I guess that’s kismet.
Thank you is not enough but we are truly forever grateful!
The McFadden- Herrera family.
