  1. I should have written this review months ago, but I find myself doing it now because of the unwavering kindness, compassion, and respect that the entire staff at Aegis has shown our dad since he became a resident. From the very beginning, they have cared for him with grace, patience, and a genuine warmth that has made all the difference.

Our dad was hesitant about moving into assisted living, but the team at Aegis made the transition seamless. They gently encouraged him to come out of his room for meals, introduced him to the community in ways that felt comfortable, took the time to learn and remember his food preferences, and most importantly, always gave him choices, ensuring that he maintained his independence and dignity. What started as reluctance turned into a real social life. He now goes to all his meals and sits with friends he has made along the way. And speaking of meals, the food is incredible. The chef and waitstaff are outstanding, and the Thanksgiving dinner was even better than what I made at home.

His medical care and grooming have been exceptional, but what truly sets Aegis apart is how they make every resident feel valued, respected, and truly seen. Our dad isn’t just living there. He is happy there. He feels safe, cared for, and listened to, and as his family, that means the world to us.

What finally prompted me to write this review was an act of extraordinary kindness that took place yesterday. Our dad had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to his 12-year-old, 100-pound dog, his beloved companion. I was out of state and unable to be there. In a moment that went far beyond any expectation, the executive director and another director took our dad’s dog to the vet and stayed with her through her final moments. They treated her as part of the Aegis Laurelhurst community because, to them, she was. Today, there is a small memorial and flowers for her at the front desk, a touching tribute that speaks volumes about the heart of this place.

Every single staff member we have encountered, from the maintenance team to the waitstaff, the concierge, the nurses, the marketing team, and the care staff, has been a 12 out of 10. The level of thoughtfulness and humanity they bring to their work is something truly special.

Aegis has given our dad a home filled with kindness, dignity, and connection. For that, I will be forever grateful.
