After many falls and a brief hospital stay, my husband was sent to Amsterdam Nursing Home for rehab for a month and a half. We found the staff kind and competent. He had visits from the doctor, regular PT from therapists who reported on his progress, gentle care from the nurses, regular pain and other medications, good food, and entertainment downstairs from the NYPD Jazz Band and a funk dj session, to name two. Libraries with John Le Carre and Ronan Farrow were appreciated, as was the terrace with tables overlooking Saint John the Divine. They remind you about doctor visits and arrange transport. A post office is down the street and the Hungarian Pastry Shop is a block down Amsterdam. The views from the 12th and 13th floors are sweeping and visitors can stay late: we watched the NFL Playoffs and the Grammys together. I got to know many of the people there, from the front desk to the resident ambassador, Emily Boettcher, and would like to thank them all for taking care of my husband. It’s an emotional time.
Staff is terrific (with 2 not so swell exceptions). Aides are always responsive.
Food, however, is not good. Repetitious and often cold. Therapists are attentive.
Amsterdam helped my grandma so much. Everyone at this facility knew exactly what they were doing and were so helpful. The nursing staff catering to her every need and the therapy team getting her so much stronger so that she could go home. Such a great facility for anyone needing a quick, great recovery!!!
I honestly can’t thank amsterdam enough for everything they did for my family member. From the start, the staff was super friendly and made them feel right at home. The therapists really knew their stuff and created a plan that worked for them, which made a huge difference.
The place itself was clean and cozy, and the vibe was just really positive. They kept us in the loop with updates and were always there to answer any questions we had.
Big shoutout to everyone for all the support and care! My family member is doing so much better now, and we’re all so grateful. Highly recommend if you or someone you know is looking for a place that genuinely cares.
I had a loved one that stayed at Amsterdam for 35 days for impatient rehab and the staff was friendly, responsive .. the facility was very clean. The aides were fantastic and the Physical therapist Lucas was wonderful!!
