The Staff is very nice they treat my mother just like she is there mother I’m happy and lucky to have found Autumn Woods
My 99 year old mother is here. They’re taking great care of her. The facility is clean and smells great. There are a lot of things for her to do although she is somewhat bedridden. She’s even made a few friends in the common area. Initially, she was longing to go back home but I think she’s come to realize that she simply can’t take care of herself anymore. My two brothers and I visit as much as we can and the staff now recognizes us and is very cordial and concerned about our mom’s well being. I think we made a good choice!
Beautiful facility and staff are so warm and welcoming!
What a hell hole. The state needs to shut this place down. Lots of fake positive reviews and glowing reviews posted by staff members at the facility and others. Are they offereing gift cards for positive reviews or something? This is a great place to send your loved one if you want them to be neglected and die, especially the ventilator unit. The facility charges $955 a day per vent patient, with 30 patients on the wing. Yet it is very poorly staffed. Sometimes there was only one respiratory therapist, one nurse, and one CNA for the entire wing! Yes it’s hard to believe but true. They keep staffing bare bones and have a temp agency doing most of the staffing. The agency doesn’t care about your loved ones! One nurse administered meds hours late, and was on her cell with earbuds the whole time. On a Friday night I waited hours for my mom to be changed and wouldn’t leave until she was. I stayed after visiting hours were over because I was so concerned. I came out and the agency nurses were sound asleep. Agency people are not invested at all in the place and the patients. The agency they use is really bad, with poorly trained unprofessional workers. A fight even broke out between one of the agency CNAs and another one night when I was there. They are just there to collect a paycheck. We complained to no avail.
We met a few kind people at the facility but mostly the people working there were cold, disinterested, and lacking in compassion. When I asked the night respiratory therapist Darryl to suction my mom he growled and got all testy. They all kept attributing my mom’s issues to her anxiety, when in reality she had pneumonia and a urinary tract indefection that developed into sepsis. We had to demand that she be taken to the hospital. They resisted letting us do that. The doctors are indifferent – also they are not staff – they are contractors who do not see each patient every week. They did not do regular chest xrays or bloodwork on my mom even though she had just come from the hospital with an infection previously. It was a tug of war getting them to addess concerns. My mom died from sepsis 36 hours after we got them to send her back to the hospital two miles away. Yet they had claimed everything was just fine and she would be a-okay!
The building is run down also and much of the equipment does not even work. Sometimes the CNA would have to try a few different blood pressure devices or thermometers to get my mom’s stats. The vitals were not checked regularly even though it was supposed to be every four hours. Some days I sat there for 12 hours and never saw anyone take vitals. Sometimes my mom got her tube feedings on times but other times there was no rhyme or reason to it and the agency nurse used very hot water. They also didn’t know how to administer meds thourgh a JG tube. This place is raking in the money while providing poor care. They don’t offer netflix and tablets in those rooms as they advertise. They only have basic cable and old run down furniture.
Sadly my mother died from complicatons due to septic shock 2.5 weeks after being moved here. We will always regret that we sent her here. At least she died in the hospital rather than this miserable place.
Update – the place posts responses onto reviews acting like they care and claiming they will follow up with you but they never do. It is disingenuous. Management never reached out to me. But they sure do make sure to harass you with threatening billing notices right after your loved one had died due to their negligence. In my mother’s care they didn’t diagnose her pneumonia and she got sepsis but they didn’t want her sent to the hospital. Within a few days of her death they started sending us a bill for her last two days at the facility, with menacing notes about how they would send the matter to a collection agency.
Feb 4th they call my husband while he’s at work and asks if he’s taking his dad to his appt. My husband never even knew about this appt. Autumn Woods rescheduled it a while back and never told anyone when it was rescheduled for. I don’t understand it. I’m sick to my stomach over this place.
Another UPDATE: Jan 29th. This place is an absolute disgrace. They do nothing to make sure your loved one gets the care they need. Missed appts, misplacing Dr’s orders. Never calling you back. Having to talk to 5 people to get one thing done. And it’s still not enough. They don’t transport or have aids to help with Drs visits. He is in there to get the care he needs. And he’s not getting it. They do NOT care about there people. Do NOT place your loved one in this facility. And if the VA says it’s the only place they have for your loved one, beg and do anything you can to get them somewhere else. This place should be shut down immediately. This place is a disgrace to humanity. Stand up for your loved ones. Do not fall for the fake positive reviews.
UPDATE: as of Nov 1st, they had everything fixed and cleaned in his room. And we will see if they continue to do what they said they would as they are still working on things.
The place is absolutely filthy. These people deserve better. I am appalled on how dirty this place is. The most filthy nursing home I’ve ever seen. And we were told the Vets have no choice on what place they go to. This is the room that 2 people have to live in. And that’s not even half of it. The furnace/air unit doesn’t work in the room and has old food in it still from previous patient. I also agree with another bad review that most of the good reviews have to be fake. There is no way in the world this place is acceptable to anyone who truly cares for their loved one.
