Worse first time nursing home experience ever in my life, one of my in laws was recently admitted here for the 100 day program and 2 weeks in they were back in the hospital due to their negligence and uncleanliness. Nurses and diet team completely disregarded what the hospital stated they were supposed to be eating, and we were told by the hospital that dues to their negligence they ended up back into the ER. Even the evac paramedics stated that the place was disgusting when my in-law was lifted off of their bed and onto the paramedics stretcher roaches from underneath the bed scattered and the paramedics stated that it wasn’t the first time they saw roaches in the facility.
My brother was a resident in this horrible facility. He was to have his sugar checked daily. This was not done. He has minimal care and seems to be basically warehoused there. Currently, he has been moved to a hospital in Jacksonville. He requires the use of a Trinity Breathing Machine. Our family are very concerned about him going back to this facility. We are very concerned that the lack of care he has been receiving will lead to his death. We feel that he is being marginalized due to his obesity. We all live in Pasco County and my brother has been asking that he be placed in the Kindred Facility in either St. Petersburg or in Tampa. In the past I have tried to get help at the facility but was told my brother can be his own advocate. He has tried and nothing is done to help him. Frankly, Deltona Healthcare, which is now called Bedrock Rehabilitation Nursing center at West Volusia does not provide the care that one would expect. I truly hope you can help my brother.
My mom Dottie was a patient at Bedrock for a month and the care she received was AMAZING! My mom had a stroke and Rehab in a Skilled Nursing Facility was recommended. My 84 year old mother did not want to go to rehab and I didn’t think she would stay. The day before she was admitted to Bedrock, the Admissions staff reached out to me and addressed all my concerns. They let me know that the building was being renovated, under new management, but most of the staff had been working there for many years. The facility is very clean. My mom’s room was comfortable and VERY CLEAN. The staff were very welcoming. On the first day, my mom’s Therapists each came into her room and introduced themselves to us. I received frequent updates from her therapists and caregivers and the care was very individualized to meet my mom’s needs. One of the many things that impressed this old nurse is that my mom and I were made an active part of her recovery with weekly Care Plan meetings. Another thing I really liked is my mom had the same Nurses, CNA’s all the time and my mom felt liked they truly cared for her. The activities department kept my mom engaged, active, and they helped her make friends. My mom is a very picky eater and I was prepared to bring her meals, but the food and dietary staff are Amazing too. Every day by 4pm they post the next days meals and have an alternative for each meal. Also, if patient’s don’t like the meal or alternative, they can have a grilled cheese, a salad, or soup. I noticed that there are large water coolers in the common areas and the staff would offer water throughout the day. At home I always struggled to get her to drink, but at Bedrock they gave her small amounts frequently. Due to my work schedule, I visited at different times and no matter what time I was there, the care wasconsistent, room clean, my mom clean. Call lights answered immediately. The Nursing staff don’t hang out in the nurses station, they were out engaged with the patients. The Long term residents are happy to live there and the staff love their jobs. My mom recovered and is doing great thanks to the care she received. She misses being there and asks every day to go visit. THANK YOU BEDROCK!! I have been a nuse for 41 years and for the last 7 years go to every Nursing Facility in 3 counties. There may not be a grand piano in the Entrance with Happy hour, but Bedrock has the BEST STAFF and provide Excellent individualized, consistant care. THANK YOU,
