Central Island Healthcare provides elegant care, offering specialized subacute care with a high nurse to patient ratio. Our rehabilitation services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy, promoting recovery and supporting patients’ return to their original level of activity.
For well over 45 years, Central Island Healthcare has been Long Island’s leader in rehabilitation. Centrally located in Plainview, many patients come to Central Island Healthcare for short term rehabilitation after they have been in the hospital.
The worst rehab It consists of less than 40 minutes per day for OT and PT combined After that your loved one will sit or lie around until some poor aid gets to them Expect UTIs and other issues /infections
I can’t say enough about the entire staff at Central Island Healthcare. They went above and beyond to give my father the very best care I could have asked for. Every staff member I worked with was kind, professional, and caring. This is a wonderful facility and I give them my highest possible recommendation.
Gave 1 star because zéro star was not available
Absolutely the worst place. Do not send your loved one’s to this facility. My mother was there because of bad communications from NCUH. The care is the worst, besides having one nurse Barbara who was very kind and gentil. The PT/OT was alright and respected her needs and abilities. Dr. Yasmin ,hmm I got the impression of bothering because I wanted information on my mother. The food is horrible even after speaking to Hani ( dietien)numerous times. The food looks like dog food and the other horse turds( meat loaf). Their face sheets are not accurite . They copy the precious face sheet. You either spend the day in bed or in a chair all day. All they want is to get paid, not worried about the patient. My mother lost 17 lbs in 27 days which is not normal and even after that they still discharge her at 67 lbs. Sadly the weight loss led to significant muscle loss and passed away shortly after. Worst place ever!!! This place should be closed down. This is not how we take care of the elderly.
ATTENTION ALL NURSES !!!!!
If I could give 0 stars I would. If you are thinking about working here please turn around especially if you are agency. They tend to give agency nurses the harder assignments with high patient to nurse ratios. I worked here a few times and to my surprise I was put on the DNR (do not return) list.
My first time working here the facility harassed me stating that I had left with the facility keys. The ones to the narcotic box. I had in fact counted with the nurse and gave HER the keys. They kept calling and leaving voice mails and even reached out to my agency. by this time I was already home and in bed. The agency even emailed me. That’s when I drove back to the facility. They had me convinced i had mistakenly dropped the keys on the ground went through all my laundry. Turns out it was the other agency nurse who had done so. She returned the keys in a UBER!!! Did they DNR her? NOPE!
That’s grounds for write up and DNR. The second time coming back they wanted me to work 1:40.
One nurse to 40 patients absolutely not. I told them i’m not comfortable doing that and I was able to get accommodated. The supervisor said it’s “first come first serve” So I was happy that it all
worked out that day. The following day I had another shift booked. They cancelled me and put me on DNR list without an explanation 2 hours prior to my shift! I called the facility no one can get me a supervisor but yet when accused of leaving with the facility keys I was harassed for something I didn’t even do. Very unprofessional supervisors and staffing. Aids telling you what they going to do and what they not going to do. Some nurses half doing their jobs. Looking at the charts most of their nurses do not follow up with patient care. Some patients who are alert and oriented have said nurses have missed medications they are supposed to give. Treatments not administered but signed off for. I’ve actually followed up and charted on patients I did not have at this facility. DNR ? Do not worry I will not be returning anyway. The money is not worth losing your license!!! Also the facility is nasty and riddled with roaches. NO PARKING !!! They want you to park on the street so your car can get it by oncoming traffic. Stay away from this facility !
