  1. My friend and I went to the anxiety, depression, and bipolar group. We thought finally we found a support group. But, we found it was not facilitated well at all. There were 15 people in the room. A man with a hour glass kept the time of each individual to say what was concerning to them. I was so floored when I heard everyone would have only 5 minutes to present there issue of concern, with a follow up from the group on ideas of help, that was stopped at a two minute cut off. I listened as one young woman told of a sexual abuse incident. It was very heart felt. She actually apologized for going over the allotted time amount of 5 minutes. The man with the hour glass, yelled times up, and she said she was sorry, and sat down. There was no endorsement from the group to her, only silence. When I took a turn, I told of something that caused a severe brain injury in me, that changed me physically as well. I stopped at the five minute mark. Again, no one offered any help at an event which my soul was changed. But, oh yes, the facilitator did offer one question, he spoke from the middle of the group and asked so “what brought you here”? In all my life, I have never come to a group like this. I had just said my story of nearly my death, and leader says what brought me here. Duh, wouldn’t anybody need a support group to come too? My friend and I quickly left in the middle of the group. We were so disappointed, and utterly crushed. We did not give up though, we called about the other support groups which were running. Alas, when we called they were not offered anymore.
This agency needs serious overall of their programs, this is a waste of state and other funding. They need to do better, and support and not harm the individuals seeking assistance. I feel like telling this story to the state. I might, as I do not others to go thru what my friend and I did. Do not waste your time, nor your soul to this agency.
