  1. UPDATE: Your response is misleading. You and your staff contacted me multiple times by phone/email, especially because my mother, a foreigner who struggled to understand you, specifically asked for my help in communication. My sister is the one who urged my father to hire an eldercare lawyer and our father informed us as a family that he hired you to help care for mom as her Power of Attorney if anything happened to him and that you would work with mom’s only remaining family her two daughters and that our names were included in documents like the health care proxy.

You also personally contacted/emailed me multiple times about selling my mother’s home at lowball offers and a few other issues (I kept all records). Additionally, your office assistant called to say you would drop my mother as POA if I continued raising concerns about a man removing valuables from our home just three days after my father’s passing. We were told you pretty much shifted mom’s care to your paralegal who was good to us and she regularly talked with mom and I, including three-way calls when mom had trouble communicating/understanding — so why are you now claiming that ‘ethics’ prevented your involvement in important issues? If that were the case, why did you and your office repeatedly engage with me?

Furthermore, another attorney has since confirmed that, given my mother’s assets, you should have advised her on an irrevocable trust to protect her assets from Medicaid, but instead, you wasted two years, delaying the five-year lookback period.

This is why we as a family deiced to remove you as POA on mom and hired a new lawyer.

OLD REVIEW (WHAT WILL FIT DUE TO UPDATE)

I had a disappointing experience with this eldercare lawyer. Initially, my mom and sister and I felt confident working with her, but over time, we became increasingly concerned with her lack of professionalism and the way she handled certain issues with our elderly mother. At the urging of my sister, my father hired her one month before he died. He told us he set us up so that she would help us as a family when he died. Mom sometimes suffers from psychosis and has been in and out of psyche wards since her 60s. Mom is also a foreigner and asked me to help in communication between her and this lawyer and her team. My issues with this lawyer are as follows:

1 Conflicts Of Interest With Predatory People: I was concerned about an individual who was trying to manipulate my mother into signing away her valuables shortly after my father passed away. Despite bringing this to the lawyer’s attention, I was told to drop the issue or she would stop being my mom’s POA, and she refused to engage in any further discussion on it. (And her paralegal did indeed catch them lying and the wife’s man told her she was sorry and was going to go to church to pray for forgiveness. Does this sound like an honest person?)

    2 Unethical-Feeling Real Estate Offer:
The lawyer recommended that we sell my mother’s house for a significantly lower price than its market value. She suggested a very low offer of $100,000 (which her staff later told me was from her own handyman) and 24 hours later $145,000 (the suggested price from her own personal real estate agent) and even claimed the house was in poor condition based on an inspection done by what turned out to be her real estate agent’s son. Fortunately, we chose a different agent and were able to sell the house in around one month for a much more appropriate amount of $195,000.

    3. Unresponsive and Dismissive:
When I tried to reach out to the lawyer about issues regarding medicaid asset protection for my mom, I was ignored multiple times over the course of months.

I felt that this lawyer did not act in my mother’s best interest and did not provide the support I expected. I cannot talk further on the case because the case is being investigated by applicable state agencies. Also their several other reviews that echo some of my complains, one here in Google and another on Yelp.com and a third one on Avvo.com.

  2. Thank you so much to this law office for the beautiful and sweet gesture of giving for the holidays . I loved the idea of having this outside of your office for the people in need of it and also for all out there that are in need to have a hat or scarf to stay warm for the cold winter days coming. My kids spotted this outside of your office on the way from school and fell in love right away with the beautiful handmade quality of the hats and scarf.Thank you to the hands who took the time to make them. Blessings for the holidays!
