My mother lived at Morningside for 6 months in 2023. During the time she was there, her health declined to the point where she was not eating, dressing or getting out of bed. When I mentioned issues to management, I was told that we should move her if we’re not satisfied. They were not interested in changing or improving. This response was beyond frustrating as a daughter trying to advocate for my mom. When I tried to call the parent company phone number, there was never an answer. There were many errors with her medication, one being that her medicine could not be found because it was put in another lady’s drawer that had her same first name. The facility was reported several times for violations during the time my mom lived there. She ended up in the hospital for the whole month of December after her health declined. Morningside is for self sufficient adults who do not need much assistance and extra care. We are lucky she was treated at the hospital and is now healthier and living elsewhere. I often think how it would have ended up if we had continued to let her live there.
This is the worst place to apply for. I’ve applied not once but twice and told they would reach back out to me and haven’t.
Been all over southeastern NC looking for the best fit for my parent – early on memory issues and needs minor assistance. Morningside was the perfect fit – amazing staff – clean safe and friendly – small and cozy.
The rooms were poorly maintained and not clean. The entire wings smelled of urine. Chronic understaffing, This facility does not have adequate staff training. They say they can provide services for the residents but the staff is either unwilling or not trained to do them and spend their time sitting on their phones. They did the bare minimum and it showed on every level. I have not spoken to a single family who had a good experience there. I wonder what patients who do not have a strong advocate do.
My mother-in-law has been living at Morningside for three months. The facilities are very nice and her room has a door leading out to a nice courtyard. We have two issues that have made this a three star. She complains every day about the food along with all the other women she sits with. This has been brought up numerous times with no resolution. She also takes eye drops for glaucoma and they have ran out four times since she has been there. We brought her some eyedrops in to take in case they run out again and they were taken away. We have also brought this up numerous times, but it continues to happen frequently. If these two issues were resolved, we would give it a five star.
