  1. The organization as a whole works in a way to deny the patient services that are ordered by the provider even if the patient has the insurance benefit for it. After doing research, these home care agencies including Patient Care get reimbursed by insurance through “bundled payments.” Therefore, if Patient Care sends out their PT 1 time per week instead of the 3 times per week (which was ordered by the orthopedic surgeon), Patient Care profits more. Patient Care only has to pay their PT for 1 session as opposed to 3 sessions but still gets the same reimbursement from insurance. Very unethical and the patient suffers. My dad has 35 hours of home care and Patient Care will only send a nurse 1 time, a speech therapist 1 time and PT sometimes.

One would ask how can the Nurse or PT from Patient Care override the orthopedic surgeons orders for PT? How does the Nurse from Patient Care override the Wound Care doctor’s order for frequency of visits? I am not sure. I do know the PT’s, Nurses, etc who are working for Patient Care are forgetting the oath they took when they entered the healthcare field. They are undermining the ordering doctor and their treatment plan. The PT’s and Nurses outright know that they should be making more frequent visits but obviously want to keep their job and therefore document the patient needs less care than what they really need. They are forgetting about that OATH they took and not doing what’s in the best of the patient.

The supplies they provided for my dad’s wounds were not sufficient. Even after bringing this to the attention of the Manager, no changes were made. When he had a bowel movement, poop would seep through the bandages. They were flimsy and would not stay on. We asked for them to follow the orders and provide us with the Allevyn bandages (much better quality) that all wound care centers and hospitals use and they would not. Even the manager of the Clifton/Wayne office says his own wife uses the brand Allevyn and how great they were. These bandages were also part of the order from his wound care doctor but Patient Care refuses to follow the doctor’s order. Why? $$$$$$… Patient Care is all about doing as little as possible so they can PROFIT. They do not work in the best interest of the patient.

Patient Care also sends out a schedule of care to the patient. It has a schedule of frequency for each discipline. This schedule is inflated and is made to look as if the patient is receiving all of these services. In reality, the patient receives less than half of what is documented on the schedule. For example on the schedule it might say speech will come 2 times per week, nurse 3 times, PT 3 times. But they all come 1 time per week. Looks great on paper but no

If you decide to use them, insist that they follow the doctor’s orders. One time per week is not enough of PT. Why would a doctor be ordering 3 and Patient Care says 1 is not enough? Who ever thinks that less exercise/training is better than more? Hello?

When we asked one of the PT’s about the treatment plan, he said we have to call and ask the manager. Why would the PT who is evaluating and working with my father direct us to speak to a manager about my dad’s progress? Because they don’t

It’s very sad because many care takers are probably older and don’t really know to advocate for or what their insurance benefit is. Luckily my dad has his four children to advocate and push back against these companies who are only interested in MONEY.

  2. Absolutely the worst care and service I’ve had with any Physical Therapy practice for myself, my parents and my in-laws. There office staff are unprofessional, the care is subpar, and one has to fight to get them to discharge patients. My Mom can’t walk now and we’ve been fighting to get her out of Patient Care and to a practice that offers better care for almost 6 weeks. The problem is that their business comes from assisted living facilities and they have long term contracts with these facilities. They are preying on patients with the least ability to advocate for themselves. Patient Care’s New Jersey license should be revoked.

  3. Patient Care of Clifton

To the awesome nurses and office staff. I want to thank the entire team for the outstanding nursing service my late brother Willie McKnight received over the last six years. Everyone have aways been very professional and caring when visiting him. This stamp is for the healthcare community which encompasses physicians, surgeons, dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, lab technicians, orderlies, home health aides, hospital custodians and emergency medical workers, among others.

Clarence McKnight, Beloved brother and caregiver.

  4. Had a nice Physical Therapist named, Tara, she got upset because I had gotten Covid & I had to stop seeing her. She got upset that I couldn’t see her when she tried to come to The Assisted Living Apt. @ Chestnut Hill. She would pop in to see me but I didn’t have the time or my wellness. I’m sorry that I couldn’t continue our sessions.
So sometimes it’s not possible to have the right time for therapy.
    Sincerely,
Patricia Rose Mastromonico, LPN (retired & disabled)

  5. Lovely to speak with by phone and in person. However, they appear to accept cases when they don’t have the staffing. My husband needed nursing within a day or two of hospital discharge and therapy. They didn’t have him scheduled for almost a week until I called and complained, so it was moved up a day sooner. Services weren’t consistent.
