I want to express my profound thanks to Mark Truesdell, owner of Cary Family Care, and his two staff members, Hailey Brightful and Alex Figuero, for the excellent care that my husband received for the last three years.
In my opinion, one of the most important attributes that Mark, Hailey, and Alex exhibit is the ability to make whatever changes need to be made so that each resident can get the excellent care they need to stay happy, calm, and safe. Mark trains his staff to be aware when changes are necessary and to communicate that to each other. The quick follow through is phenomenal! My husband was often quite the challenge, especially when he was sundowning. Mark was quick to contact me and his doctor when medication changes were necessary, choosing to have meds decreased when it was appropriate. He did not want my husband to be overmedicated and to just be a zombie. I trusted his judgment implicitly.
Mark has a special “calling” to care for those who can no longer care for themselves, whether it be due to dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s or just plain old age. His residents love him! His care home is just that, a home where each person is respected and loved. I loved hearing my husband laugh at Mark’s antics! They sang together often. Mark told me that his residents are his teachers, training him in the best care they need. His problem solving skills are superb!
Cary Family Care is always kept spotlessly clean. In all three years, I was never met by a bad smell there. The residents are consistently clean and well-groomed and are taken to the bathroom every two hours without fail. They are served delicious meals and snacks—Mark even routinely makes fresh fruit smoothies! He sneaks vegetables in with the fruit so they get proper nutrition.
There are plenty of activities for the residents to engage in, like magnetic darts, beach ball toss, fun music and TV shows to enjoy, books, catalogs, and newspapers to read, art projects to complete. They have access to puzzles and toys appropriate for their skill levels. My husband was taken outside for walks and to sit in the sunshine and watch the planes fly over.
My whole family has the ultimate respect for Mark and his staff. It’s where I would want to be if I needed care.
Mark is beyond one of the best caregivers I’ve ever met. Before finding Mark and Cary Family Care I personally took care of my dad, hired caregivers and also had him in a facility. I used to micromanage every detail. In the almost three years my father has been at Mark’s, I have never had to worry for one single second. His skill, his commitment, his empathy for my dad/his dignity are off the chart. Mark is able to manage all that he brings to the table and train his staff with the same consistency. I am forever grateful for Cary Family Care!
Our mother was very well cared for by Mark and his team. She was happy and safe morning, noon and night. Family and friends were always welcome to visit, the food was healthy and planned out with nutrition in mind, and the cleanliness of the home was visible. We would highly recommend to any family looking for short or long term care of a loved one.
Joy, peace and comfort are the feelings I have now when I think about my dad’s living conditions in this home. The home has lots of windows and natural light, doesn’t have a bad smell because the residents are tended to well. They fix the most amazing food which is healthy, flavorful and colorful. My dad gets stimulated by regular verbal interaction with staff, activities and is verbally praised and talked to in a dignified manner. My father has had Alzheimer’s for over 14 years and he is talking more now because of the staff interacting with him. My brothers and I get regular videos of my dad in his daily life which helps me stay connected. Our mother comes over regularly and says it feels like home. We had moved my dad out of of two other assisted living facilities due to poor care, what a drastic change this home has been. Thank you Mark and staff for good medical care, treating dad with dignity, stimulating him socially, verbally and giving my family peace of mind.
Mark showed such wonderful compassion and care for my Dad. The home was convenient to our location in Cary and allowed easy access to visit around busy family schedules. The home environment very welcoming and Dad was able to adjust very quickly to his new surroundings. We felt great peace with Dad being in Mark’s care. I strongly recommend you explore Cary Family Care Assisted Living for your family needs.
