SKLD is not just another option for post-hospital care. With a long-standing commitment to caring for families, we aim to demystify clinical processes and provide a supportive environment for patients.
We provide specialized post-hospital care for patients who are well enough to leave the hospital but not ready to go home. Our approach is different, focusing on staffing, service, and technology.
I visited SLKD to see a family member. I am a CNA and offered to assist with the family member to take a load off of the staff. Libby (Elizabeth) was extremely generous, kind, understanding, and put the safety of my family member as her top priority. She greeted us with a huge smile and a happy attitude. She watched my transfer and talked me through it to ensure my family members safety. Libby was/is an amazing person to interact with and is so amazing at her job. I trust her with my family member.
My Dad is currently in their care the nurses overall are very unkind with him and the rest of the family and he’s had the same bladder infection that put him in the hospital over a month ago while using the same catheter they put in A MONTH AGO they refuse to do anything about his infection place needs to be shut down
Worst place ever. If there is a hell on earth SKLD is the place. My brothers care is non-existant. He was a feed because his tremors are so bad, but because they do not want staff tied up feeding him, they make him feed himself now. Took out the phones in the residents rooms, so now you call and leave a message. Messages are not delivered. Anita at the front desk is the worst and will not deliver messages. If you want good care for your family don’t go to SKLD.Also money was taken out of my brother trust account not once but twice. I told them I was going to call the police and have charges filed for embezzlement before they would put the money back into his account.
Hazardous to your health.
My mother was admitted into skld in Muskegon, they treated her nice for a day or two and then everything changed. She was real shaky on her legs so she was supposed to be watched closely when she went to the bathroom or got up to go try to walk around a little bit. My mom has really bad anxiety and she’s the type that if she knows when she’s supposed to get her pills and she don’t have them she’s going to start hunting down the nurse to ask for her meds, if she doesn’t get her meds on time her anxiety goes through the roof and a few times I thought for sure she was going to have a heart attack because of how bad her anxiety was because they wouldn’t give her her medicine to calm her down because they have a 2-hour window which I think is not right because if a patient knows that their anxiety is getting out of control and they’re asking for their meds, they should be given their meds plain and simple then the patient would settle down and they’d be done with the patient for the night. But no it was more fun to watch her have her anxiety go through the roof. she turned her call light on and it would take him anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour to come in and see what she wanted, one time it took them 45 minutes just to go across the hall and get her a glass of ice water, 45 minutes that’s ridiculous. There are a few people in there that were really really nice but they were only on during the day so after that it was second shift got worse and third shift was the worst staffing wise. Mom did make friends with a few of the nursing staff! So that’s a good thing, I just read the place of one if I can go lower I would it’s it’s a bad place it’s not even good for animals to be kept at. The food was terrible once in a great great while you have a decent meal. They kept trying to feed her stuff that she said she couldn’t eat because of her bowels. So it’s like they were not listening to the patient or her family they just did whatever they wanted. So if you’re looking to put your loved one here I advise you not to, there has to be other nursing homes out there that you could take your loved one too! I know there is a couple in Spring lake that are really awesome if you want to drive that far! But please for the sake of God do not put your loved one at skld of Muskegon. Second shift is pretty much heartless when it comes to patients that know what they need and want it so that their anxiety goes down it was like they thought it was hilarious that my mom was having anxiety attacks, but thankfully there are a few nurses there that I really wish would transfer to a different nursing home because they deserve better pay and back the ones that are doing their jobs like they’re supposed to do I’m not going to mention any names because they know who they are we love you! But the rest of the staff who acted heartless and didn’t care what the patients wanted and it’s not just my Mom they’re like that with all of the patients so please do your research do not place them at skld in Muskegon and I’ve heard that the skld and Whitehall is not much better.
