Wow! What a fantastic independent living community. Great dining room and fantastic amenities onsite. Beautiful buildings and great location.
We had a great experience here with the staff and the people who took care of my loved one. Unfortunately we didn’t have a long stay but we will be forever grateful for how they took care of my loved one. We were on the Independent living side and we had some unexpected problems with my loved one and they did everything they could to help. From the minute we toured the facility, moved in, and needed to leave we had nothing but a great experience with Lindsey, Julie and the rest of the staff. Thank you for all you do and all you did! We definitely will recommend the Strafford for your loved ones!
Urgent Warning: Avoid Stratford Court of Palm Harbor for Your Loved Ones!
I am writing this review with a heavy heart, hoping my opinions spare others from the distressing experiences my 92-year-old mother and our family endured at Stratford Court of Palm Harbor ALF. Our seven-month stay was marred by numerous instances of negligence and poor management, prompting me to move my mother to another facility for her safety. Regretfully, I made this decision too late.
One of the most alarming concerns was the incompetence in medication administration. Med Techs with little to no training were responsible for giving medications, leading to frequent errors such as administering meds to the wrong individuals or not even knowing the names of the medicines. This lack of proficiency not only jeopardized lives but was also used as leverage for increasing resident’s fees, creating an unsettling environment.
Sue Giallani (LPN), the head nurse, proved to be ineffective in her role. Rarely present, she instilled fear rather than respect among the staff. This hindered communication, as many staff members would deflect questions with a dismissive “I’m just a Tech” response and redirect me to Sue. This compromised the quality of care and contributed to an unhealthy atmosphere.
The facility’s unduly restrictive policies prevented loved ones from dining with residents, even when we offered to pay. Family involvement was discouraged, forcing me to eat in my mother’s room rather than the dining hall. This isolation not only affected our relationship but also raised concerns about the overall well-being of residents.
Communication breakdowns were a recurring issue. I would call the facility from my home to check on my Mother and no one would answer, creating an uncomfortable and worrisome experience when trying to reach loved ones.
Another concerning pattern emerged where returning residents from the hospital were inexplicably rejected by Stratford Court and sent to rehab facilities even though their condition did not appear to warrant it. My opinion is there could be a monetary incentive by managers to refer these patients, suggesting a systematic issue that requires investigation.
The inadequate care reached a critical point when my mother developed an infection at the facility. Despite needing frequent attention, the restrictive policies at Stratford Court allowed only limited bandage changes, exacerbating the situation. Moving her to another facility revealed a severe MRSA infection, ultimately contributing to her demise.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against choosing Stratford Court of Palm Harbor for your loved ones. Our painful journey underscores the need for thorough research and caution. The facility’s deceptive practices, subpar care, and lack of transparency should serve as a red flag for anyone considering it as a potential residence for their family members.
Please learn from our unfortunate experience and choose a facility that prioritizes the well-being, safety, and dignity of its residents.
P.S. Don’t be fooled by the “bait and switch” level of care 30-day evaluation to get your loved one signed. Hold on to your wallet.
The response below is to Erika’s post!
Erika, I am truly taken aback by your response. I made it clear why I felt it was important to share my opinions and provide an honest assessment of your facility based on personal experience. Your mention of potential slander legal action against me for my post, only exacerbates the situation. Review platforms serve as a constructive outlet for individuals to express their opinions without fear of reprisal. Let’s not forget, it was my mother that passed away and my family paid the ultimate price here. Earlier in our conversation, you mentioned not knowing what you’d do if you lost your mother. I hope you never have to experience the type of care my mother endured at Stratford Court of Palm Harbor ALF and urge you to show empathy for those who have lost a loved one, or consider pursuing a different profession if you cannot.
This a great establishment. Caring and thoughtful staff all throughout the building. I’d like to give special recognition to AL, the time that my mom spent there was wonderful. They cared for her needs, looked out for her and other residents alike. Whenever she needed assistance, they were always there to help. I couldn’t be happier with everything turned out.
MY ELDERLY RELATIVE LIVES HERE AND ABSOLUTLEY LOVES IT. STAFF WAS WONDERFUL 10/10
