My mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was put on hospice. Vitas offered their services. They delivered a bed and commode to my mother’s house but the commode didn’t come with a bucket, she was then put on 6 different medications that completely destroyed her strength and energy. She had a violent vomiting episode one day and I tried calling someone for help but no one from Vitas was answering the phone to help her. When I finally got a hold of someone, I was told that no one would be available until the following day, whereas my mother was covered in her own vomit. My father had to bathe and redress her himself. She became increasingly nauseous and couldn’t keep anything down. The nurses kept telling her to take her medication but she had nothing on her stomach which made the nausea even worse. She got to the point that even water wasn’t staying down and she had not eaten or drank anything in 4 days and I tried calling her hospice team to help her but couldn’t reach anyone. I called the main office and they tried paging the team but got no response. I finally had to call and ambulance to take her to the hospital. The Doctor saw her and came to the assessment that Vitas was neglecting her. So he took them off her case. I’m not sure if every Vitas team is like this but the St. Cloud team definitely was. We will be looking for another hospice provider.
VITAS Healthcare in Saint Cloud was truly a blessing to my family in the care of my Dad. The staff are true angels. They cared so much and where so warm and friendly. They went above and beyond to help. They treated my father with dignity and love and kindness in the best care they provided. I am truly grateful to them all. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and support during a very difficult time.

After rethinking other options with other hospice providers , Vitas offers all around the best choices. They are caring and compassionate with the patients. Would recommend Vitas over other hospice facilities.
