They almost killed my Mom! She asked to go to a facility after her spinal fusion surgery. She was walking with assistance and a walker when she got there. The kept giving her pain meds even though she told them she wasn’t having any pain! I asked to speak with the Doctor day after day and they just kept telling me he wasn’t there. I walked in to visit her on a Friday night and found her naked and completely disoriented! No one could tell me why. Her skin was ice cold, so she had been that way for a while! Her gown was at her feet like they had started to dress her and got called away and just never went back. Since she was wearing a neck brace from her surgery, it seemed like they were afraid to touch her or get her up and moving. I went in and got her moving the few times she got out of bed. Physical Therapy, when asked, kept saying she said she was dizzy; so apparently they just gave up. After days of them not moving her and her being in a diaper, she got a UTI and didn’t know who I was! I demanded a call from the doctor. TWO DAYS LATER! He finally called me. I heard from her roommate, they came in and were coaxing answers from my mother. When I called and asked the nurse told me the doctor was speaking directly with my mother since she was able to speak for herself. I said, “SHE DOESN’T EVEN KNOW WHO I AM!!!!!” I finally got a call from him the next day. Once I was able to speak to him, we determined she MUST have UTI and that was what was causing the delirium. He stated he would run the lab work. The next day the nurse called and said they couldn’t wait for the lab work, she needed to go to the ER. They said she was severely dehydrated and they were worried. Fast forward to 3pm, the ER doctor said she had severe dehydration, and her kidneys were shut down. She had a blood clot in her left leg and she couldn’t tell them who she was!
I honestly believe it was all caused by this place not being comfortable with her needs. I will say there are a couple of people that were good, as with any place, but overall they are sabotaged by the idiots that don’t care. They would bring her drinks in very small cups without straws! She is in a neck brace! They expected her to pour it all over herself. Absolutely ridiculous that they don’t pay attention to any detail.
Manzanita Health Center is much better! Take your loved one there!
Really only thing wrong is Management and an out of control kitchen. Kitchen is so bad and half the time we served our food in paper plates.
