Experience with Reflections Senior Living Facility
A Cautionary Tale
Six months ago, we placed my mother-in-law in Reflections, reassured by the initial review and contact with the staff that the wellness and safety measures would meet or exceed our expectations. The price point was reasonable, and we moved her in, confident in the care she would receive.
Initially, our experiences were positive, with the staff providing pleasant and assuring interactions. However, it soon became evident that the quality of care was beginning to degrade. Frequently, we found my mother-in-law in the same clothes for two to three days, and her sheets were not changed regularly—all things that were promised to be done consistently before we signed the contract. Moreover, the medical care she received was less than desirable.
Despite these challenges, the payment invoices were punctual, arriving five days before the billing cycle, and we ensured that payments were made on time. Unfortunately, as my mother-in-law’s health began to decline, we had to enlist Vitas to provide end-of-life care. Vitas proved to be exceptionally compassionate and professional, offering outstanding care and support until the very end. They are truly Angels on earth.
Tragically, my mother-in-law passed away mid-month. We vacated her possessions the following day, and management assured us that they would notify “corporate” about our situation. They promised a refund for half of the month within 30 days. It has now been over two months, and we have not received any communication from either Reflections or corporate. Numerous phone calls have been met with vague reassurances that “the check is in the mail” and “you should be getting it any day.” Attempts to reach corporate through written communication have also gone unanswered.
This experience serves as a cautionary tale for anyone considering placing their loved ones in Reflections. While the initial interactions may be promising, the quality of care and the responsiveness of the management may not meet your expectations in the long run. Make sure to keep this in mind when making such important decisions for your loved ones.
This past weekend my brother and I moved our dad into the Reflections of Port Orange. The staff was amazing in helping us with everything and I mean everything. The facility is more like a hotel and well maintained, nothing like I’ve been exposed to as a retired Firefighter paramedic for 33 years. I’ve been in a great number of facilities, none of which are anything like this one. They far exceeded our expectations and my Dad really seems to like it so far. Did I say how awesome the staff is, I guess you can tell we were highly impressed.
Reflections Port Orange is absolutely wonderful! The staff is incredibly caring, accommodating, and positive. They have far exceeded our expectations and allayed every fear and concern we had before coming there. We can’t thank you enough for all you do, staff, and for always going above and beyond!

Making the transition to a memory care facility is not an easy process but everyone has definitely made me feel like we made the right decision putting her at Reflections and I don’t worry about her like I did at the other places that she was at.
