I am giving this facility 3 stars because the care for my mom (mostly) improved after I advocated for her and had an opportunity to bring my laundry list of concerns to the director of nursing and the administrator of the facility. My mom was transferred to this facility from Health Central Hospital ,because her managed care Medicare apparently does not cover in-patient rehabilitation services. The facility is in the process of building a new facility which I am sure will be very nice. In the meantime, the older facility is sufficient. The first 3 nights my mom, who is cognitively sound, patient, and sweet, was treated very poorly with a nurse’s aide refusing to give her her own Chapstick and toothbrush prior to going to sleep. When I visited her after 3 days she looked ready to give up when she was supposed to be there to receive therapy following a fracture. It was not like she was being thrown in there and neglected by her family. When I
attempted to have her transferred to a different facility, that apparently got someone’s attention and I was finally able to speak with Johane (director of nursing) and Fanley (administrator) to voice my concerns about the treatment of my mother. Following that conversation, things did improve for my mom and therapy went very well. My mom reported that she was still ignored sometimes and one of the CNAs was rough with her but overall things got better. My mom never reported anything good about the food, and when she made a request her options were only what was premade. Apparently, grilling bread with a piece of cheese in the middle of it is too difficult. I really wanted to leave this review because the majority of the reviews are old. This facility is fine if you visit your family member often and advocate for them.
Unfortunately, the hospital ended their support after 21 days so my mom was sent home before she was fully ready. She was supposed to receive home health services immediately but the company that was referred to her did not accept her insurance and took 2 weeks to figure that out. She finally started home health physical therapy this week after being home for 4 weeks.
Nursing okay. I just want my clothes!!!!
The staff could honestly careless for the patients here. Especially to those with no income or insurance
