  1. Atrium Gardens was my mother’s final home. We had been to 3 other facilities ranging from independent living to assisted living. This was the first place she did not ask to leave. The staff were the most caring and warm that we had come across. They doted on my mother who absolutely loved it. She provided challenges with behavioral and emotional outbursts as her dementia progressed and brought changes in how she needed to be cared for and managed. Every time the staff stepped up and met those challenges with caring and support. This level of caretaking was modeled and supported by the Kornitas as owners and Kim as Administrator. The front staff were always welcoming and were genuinely upset at my mother’s passing. My siblings and I will always be grateful for making my mother’s last year as happy as it could be. This extends from the administration to the front staff to the direct care workers to the food service staff to the maintenance staff. Thank you all.

  2. Atrium Gardens has been a God-send to me. My mom has lived there for a year now. The facility is clean and offers areas where the residents can gather with natural lighting and pretty outdoor areas as well. The staff truly care for the residents and are very caring and loving. They are well trained to care for the residents and have handled issues that arise very well. I appreciate that the staff works hard to bring the residents together and does not let them isolate in their rooms. They offer activities as well as bring in outside entertainment. They also bring in medical providers including dentistry. The owners, Jim and Lynn have been attentive to questions and needs and they invest in this community.

  3. For anyone serving as a caregiver for a spouse, a parent, or a sibling, having to make the decision about placing your loved one in a memory care facility is one of the hardest decisions you will ever have to make. As it became harder to take care of my spouse at home, I began to research memory care facilities in the Tampa Bay area.

I researched extensively online. I read reviews. I consulted our provider at the Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, and the director of the adult day center which my spouse attended. I narrowed my search to 4 facilities. Equipped with a list of over 30 questions to ask (obtained from the Alzheimer’s Association website and from the book entitled “The 36 Hour Day”), I scheduled appointments and facility tours at each of the 4 on my list.

While each of the facilities would have been acceptable to me, Atrium Gardens was the CLEAR CHOICE. I was impressed with this facility before walking in the door. The physical building is maintained beautifully inside and out by Maintenance Mgr. Michael and his team. Resident safety is a top priority, with all building entrances/exits controlled by a coded keypad, ensuring that only staff members can allow someone to enter or exit the building. The Managers, Jim & Lynn, are professional and friendly. They made an incredibly difficult appointment pleasant and comfortable.

The facility does not feel like an institution that is on lockdown. After signing in and being buzzed in from the foyer, you see the atrium at the center. It is a lovely seating area for residents and visitors. It is beautifully lit from the sky lights above. I always see residents and visitors enjoying this space when I go to visit my spouse. The interior paint combination of sage green with white trim reflects a clean & bright facility that is also peaceful and warm. There are many windows throughout the facility, allowing natural light, which contributes to a warm & homey ambiance.

I love the size of this facility, only 38 beds. There are four hallways of resident rooms that branch off from the main areas. Each hallway is beautifully decorated. Outside of each resident room, there is a shadow box. If a resident’s family chooses to decorate it, it gives “snapshot” of the resident that occupies that room. The rooms are appropriately spacious and have at least one window. Families may decorate their loved one’s room however they wish, making it a personalized new home away from home. Maria and her amazing housekeeping staff keep the entire facility and the resident rooms clean and sanitized. I have never once encountered an unpleasant smell while being here!

The two dining rooms are beautifully lit with skylights. The nutrition manager, Mel, plans well-balanced and tasty meals, prepared and served by her awesome team! The staff works together to ensure that residents who need extra assistance with eating and drinking receive it.

There is an activities room that is busy from 9am-4pm. The activities are designed to stimulate and engage residents physically, cognitively, and/or emotionally. The activities are tailored so that all residents can participate, regardless of cognitive or mobility levels. Katrina and the activities facilitators (shout outs to Debra, Jasmine, and Rhonda!) work very hard to consistently engage their residents! There is also a large and comfortable common room where residents and their guests can visit or watch TV.

The nursing staff is top notch! Kim, Marcia, Dawn, Kiara, and Yolanda deliver respectful care with kindness to their residents. They are very responsive in communicating with family, regarding concerns or questions.

While I can’t list each individual employee, the receptionists and the aides round out this remarkable staff. The love that I see them bestow upon their residents is genuine. The care and compassion that I witness at Atrium Gardens comes from people that love what they do and love those for whom they provide care. I am so grateful that God led us here. My wife continues to enjoy her quality of life and I enjoy peace of mind! Thank you all!
